Oklahomans nominated

Oklahoma musicians John Fullbright and JD McPherson are each nominated in two categories for the 2013 Americana Honors & Awards.

Both are nominated for emerging artist of the year, alongside duos Shovels & Rope and Milk Carton Kids.

Fullbright, a Bearden singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, also received an album of the year nod for his 2012 Grammy-nominated studio debut “From the Ground Up.”

Broken Arrow retro rocker McPherson is nominated for song of the year for “North Side Gal,” the jaunty lead single from his breakout album “Signs and Signifiers.

The Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic, along with its Denim & Diamond dinner and auction, benefits the country music star's foundation and its primary project: the construction of the OK Kids Korral, a home-away-from-home for Oklahoma children fighting cancer and their families.
